The Decemberists are a band i love but am yet to actually love
any of their CDs as a whole. If they ever release a best of CD it
will be the best 'Best Of' CD to ever hit the market. This I promise
you.
The Crane Wife follows the trend of their other CDs except I enjoy
more of it this time around with only a couple songs in the middle
slowing it down for me.
The title track is actually 3 songs over 2 tracks, The Crane Wife
1, 2, and 3. They are also the best songs on the disk and in my
humble opinion the best the Decemeberists have ever written.
If you're a fan of off-beat folk then check these guys out. I highly
recommend it. |

So when Blink-182 broke up there was a bit of heartbreak for an
era was ending. But Tom promised he had moved onto something bigger
and better. What he claimed at one stage was going to be the best
album he's ever written.
To sum it up, he was full of it.
This album is a wanky mess of samey songs, the only thing you will
come away with from this album is a wasted 50 minutes.
If by some stretch you think this is good then you're probably
also a U2 fan.
I can't be bothered writing anything more. Even huge Blink-182
fans should skip this and just pick up Boxcar Racer instead. |

The other two members of Blink-182 (Mark, Travis) went off to
form Plus 44 and well they ended up releasing one of my favourite
albums of 2006.
Its pure pop-rock goodness. The album doesn't push that much new
ground for the members involved but it delivers on every expectation
anyone could have had for the album. I hadn't really heard about
them much until I got the album so i was stoked off the bat.
There are a couple of songs I sometimes skip on the way through
the disk but they're not enough to bring it down as a whole.
If you're missing Blink-182 and are sick of all the pop-rock bands
that tried to steal their throne just grab this album and remember
what good pop-rock is supposed to be.
FUN. |
